Fees & Pricing Policy
The modern neurosurgical care provided by Dr. Alexandros Blionas and the BA Neurosurgery team represents a premium choice for the patient: a thorough, personalized evaluation of every aspect of the problem, supported by advanced Artificial Intelligence for anticipating every possible development during recovery, and by advanced imaging and surgical technology for the patient’s safety.
Dr. Blionas is also an ainnovator of Awake Same-Day Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression, which he offers at a significantly lower cost than the few centers worldwide performing this procedure (USA, UK). Above all, he dedicates generous, unhurried time to each patient, so that they feel fully confident at every step of their treatment.
He embraces the principle of Hippocrates, which in modern terms states: «In determining his fee, the physician must take into account the financial situation of the patient and must not demand excessive amounts in an inhumane manner.»
His philosophy rests on the rigorous scientific substantiation of every decision, based on high-quality evidence, and on providing patients with detailed, transparent information. At the same time, every effort is made to ease the financial burden on the patient, given that a significant portion of the costs is fixed and unavoidable.
For patients in whom a surgical indication is identified following a consultation, the premium «Personalized Evidence-Based Treatment Analysis» — powered by advanced AI — is provided free of charge.
A Worked Example: Cost of the Innovating Procedure
An indicative example of the cost of Awake Same-Day Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression — performed without general anesthesia, under sedation, with the patient awake — for the treatment of sciatica, offered by Dr. Blionas in Greece and Cyprus and by only a few other centers worldwide:
Hospital charges and materials are invoiced by the clinic and communicated before the procedure.
When paying by credit card, installment payments are available — approximately €110 per month for the example above (applicable to BA Neurosurgery fees). Multiple credit cards may be combined.
Payment by bank transfer or by credit/debit card is preferred. For larger amounts, cash payments must be made by deposit into the practice’s bank account.
Indicative Fees for Neurosurgical Procedures
In the interest of full transparency, we publish indicative fees for our services.
The medical team’s fees are fixed. Flexible payment arrangements — installments, or a private payment agreement — are, however, always available and can be discussed. The listed prices refer to the surgeon’s and surgical team’s fees.
Installments: from €50 per month.
The anesthesiologist’s fee is listed separately and is paid directly to the anesthesiologist.
Hospital charges and materials/implants are not included; these are invoiced by the clinic and communicated before the procedure. Every patient receives a complete written breakdown of the total cost before scheduling.
For patients whose private health insurance covers the procedure, a basic option is available with zero out-of-pocket cost (provided the policy covers 100%). The team and the hospital are reimbursed directly by the insurer.
